COAI proposes policies to boost telecom sector for the Union Budget

COAI has submitted telecom industry proposals for the Union Budget 2024-25 to the Ministry of Finance. The proposals focus on enhancing the financial well-being of the industry. They include recommendations to abolish the USOF levy or suspend the USO contribution until the existing USO corpus is exhausted. The industry also proposes to bring down the License Fee from 3% to 1% and redefine the Gross Revenue definition. Other proposals include a special tax regime for telecom operators, exemption from Service Tax, reduction of Customs Duty on telecom equipment, and exemption from GST on certain charges.
